During today’s Lunch and Learn our guests were Steven Lane & Elizabeth Adamczyk, bike activists. Steven represented Critical Mass community bike rides and Elizabeth represented Women Bike Chicago as well as Silent Rides in Chicago. These community bike groups are empowering more people to become cyclists and take advantage of the road. Hearing about how Steven and Elizabeth have supported community bike rides, activities, and events has inspired us at bikeLab to re-evaluate our designs to really allow for communal space and activity. While LUCHA (Latin United Community Housing Association) has existing partnerships with great community bike shops such as West Town Bikes, we learned about more organizations they could paterner with to host bike events and community bike rides around Humboldt Park similar to Critical Mass. As the final days of preparing our designs are closing in, here at bikeLab, we are very honored to be working on something to provide for the Humboldt park community and LUCHA.
